Digital Image Analysis

Apart from the capabilities that are part of the specific microscopes, the Center offers dedicated image analysis software packages like MacTempas image simulation software for calculation of high resolution TEM images, diffraction patterns, and phase contrast transfer functions. Another program Cerius2 with such capabilities is available through the Laboratory for Molecular Simulation (http://www.chem.tamu.edu/LMS/). Other image analysis/processing software suites include:

  • EMAN, IMAGIC, CCP4, CRISP and MRC
  • FEI Amira

Support and training for users of the freeware image analysis software ImageJ (https://imagej.net/Welcome) or its Fiji distribution (http://fiji.sc) is provided by Dr. Stan Vitha (979-845-1607; vitha@tamu.edu)

We are also equipped with two film scanners for digitizing archived TEM negatives. Detailed instructions for the Epson flatbed scanner can be downloaded here.
