RESEARCH AREA
My research focuses on the material structures, with an emphasis on the correlation with their properties. The following areas have been involved:
- Nanomaterials (nanoparticles, nowires and nanocomposites), composite materials (polymer-, metal-, and ceramic-matrix), superconductors and ceramic oxides, metallic materials, quasicrystals and related complex intermetallics;
- Material crystallography: phase structure and phase transition, interfacial and defective structures;
- Material properties: mechanical property, superconductivity, and magnetism;
- Quantitative microscopy and computation.
In order to utilize the TEM efficiently, I'm happy to make a wide range of collaborations with investigators from A&M as well as outside the campus to solve structural issues in the materials research.
TEACHING
- BIOL 602:Fundamental transmission electron microscopy (TEM I) (lab; fall);
- BIOL 603: Advanced transmission electron microscopy (TEM II) (lecture and lab; summer).
