Image Analysis Workshop

August 5 - 6, 2025

9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Room 1143 ILSB

We encourage imaging instrument users (TEM, SEM, EDS, EBSD, FIB, Dual Beam, Light Sheet, Fluorescence, Confocal Microscopes)  to register. The registration for the workshop is free, the number of seats is limited

We have speakers from TAMU and outside, who will be delivering lectures about computational image analysis and will provide hands-on training. This workshop is ideal for students as well as postdocs working on projects that demand computation image analysis, or simply image manipulation, adjustments and presentation.

Basic topics that will be covered:

  • Concept of digital imaging : computing pixel values and setting scale bars on micrographs
  • Measuring objects of interest in images
  • Segmenting portions of interest from images (using Artificial Intelligence methods)
  • Coloring images
  • Generating Fourier Transforms of images and their analysis, Modulation Transfer Function etc
  • Introducing free image analysis software to the audience (showing examples)
  • Complex 3D image reconstructions (for both material & biological sciences field).
  • Showcasing a newly developed Cloud computing workflow for Image analysis
  • Conducting a 3D image reconstruction using cellular phones.
