Confocal Microscopy Workshop
Date: Thursday, August 22, 2019
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm (presentation, Q&A)
12:30pm-2:00 pm demonstration of confocal and wide-field microscopes.
Where: TAMU
Microscopy and Imaging Center
Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building (ILSB) Rm. 1143, 1117, 1118
Workshop for students and researchers who are new to fluorescence and confocal
microscopy, as well as those who already use microscopes and would like to
expand their knowledge and ask questions specific to their samples.
The presentation will cover principles of fluorescence and confocal microscopy,
practical consideration for sample preparation and imaging, and will be
followed by a demonstration of confocal and wide-field fluorescence microscopes
in the MIC.
The attendees will have the option to sign up for training sessions (to take
place in September – October) for independent operation of a laser scanning
confocal microscope of choice at a substantially reduced cost: Olympus FV1000,
$120; Leica SP8, $150 per person, for TAMU users. For more information on the
instruments, see the MIC website: https://microscopy.tamu.edu/instruments/light-microscopy
THE WORKSHOP IS FREE BUT YOU MUST ATTEND TO QUALIFY FOR THE DISCOUNTED TRAINING.
