Scanning Electron Microscopy Workshop
The Microscopy and Imaging Center (MIC) of Texas A&M University (TAMU) conducted a 3 day workshop on the application of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) in different research fields on June 10-12, 2019 attended by 48 individuals.
The workshop comprised of several lectures covering different application of cryo techniques for biological specimen and soft matter, usage of SEM in the field of medical research, nanotechnology, geochemistry, mineralogy, thermofluid study, environmental engineering and water purification. Lectures were delivered from application specialists from Leica, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Tescan, Zeiss, Ametek, and Hitachi highlighted the latest technological developments in cryo SEM, cryo-FIB, Serial Block Face SEM.
There were demonstrations of the FEI Quanta 600 (Tuesday, June 11 at 2:00-5:00 PM) and Tescan Vega 3 (Wednesday, June 12 at 2:00-5:00 PM) scanning electron microscopes at the MIC. A short session for computational image analysis of datasets from cryo-FIB/Serial Block Face SEM was conducted on Monday, June 10 from 2:00-5:00PM.
Attendees of the demonstrations of the Tescan Vega 3 and FEI Quanta 600 were eligible for discounted training on either of those instruments (see below). Attendees of the demonstrations interested in discounted training on either the Tescan Vega 3 and FEI Quanta 600 had to additionally register in iLab (https://tamu.corefacilities.org/service_center/show_external/4561) and sign up under Request Service->Workshop->2019 SEM Workshop Registration-Discounted Training
